State Recovery Coordinator appointed to oversee north Queensland flood recovery

Appointing the passionate north Queenslander to oversee recovery operations is an important step on the long journey to recovery from the devastating floods.

Mr Cripps will be responsible for identifying the specific recovery needs of impacted communities, providing strategic advice to government agencies, regular updates about recovery operations, and leading the development of a State Recovery Plan.

Working closely with Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA) CEO Major General Jake Ellwood, Mr Cripps will provide leadership, coordination, direction and advice for the delivery of recovery efforts in impacted communities.

Born and raised in Tully, Mr Cripps brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to the role.

A strong advocate for the region, the former state member for Hinchinbrook and former deputy mayor of Hinchinbrook Shire Council is well versed in the needs of impacted communities and councils.

With north Queenslanders reeling from the impacts of the floods, Mr Cripps will take charge of the recovery operation, working hand-in-glove with the QRA to effectively support those affected.

His understanding of north Queensland communities will be a vital asset in helping impacted residents, small businesses, primary producers, and councils recover from the extensive flood damage.

Mr Cripps will be a crucial link between government and communities to ensure QRA’s vision of building back better is achieved.

Queensland State Recovery Coordinators oversee the transition from response to recovery and help communities get what they need to not simply recover, but to flourish once more.
